Planning-Before You Move

Obtain the booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move
Ask for recommendations from friends, neighbors, and relatives regarding the move.
Check with the Better Business Bureau regarding the moving company.
Find out what the mover’s responsibilities are for damages that may occur to your person belongings.
Obtain an estimate from at least three movers and compare costs and all other services to be provided by the mover.
Find out how and when pickup and delivery of your belongings will occur.
Check to determine whether the Interstate Mover is registered with FMCSA

On Moving Day

Before the moving truck leaves,take one final look through of the house to make certain nothing has been left behind.
Inform the driver and the moving company the best number to reach you on the day of the move.
Be present to answer any and all questions
Accompany the movers as they inventory your home, and resolve any question regarding the conditions of materials being moved.
Supervise unloading and unpacking of your things
Note on the inventory list all boxes or other items that are damaged before you sign any documentation.
